Real Talk

Fridays 10am – 12pm

Matt Munoz

For more than two decades, Matt Munoz has covered the California entertainment scene from the newsroom to the radio/podcast studio to the frontman on stage. Launching his career as a professional musician and bandleader for popular Latin ska reggae band Mento Buru, Matt has since become a trusted community voice in the California music scene and multimedia journalism.   Prior to joining Real Talk, Munoz got his start in the entertainment industry working in L.A.’s Latin alternative music scene, serving in production roles during Grammy season and as a Hollywood personal assistant. In 2005, he joined The Bakersfield Californian to help shape the news company’s niche media and multicultural brands. During his stint, he stayed on the pulse of local community happenings, bringing groundbreaking new ideas to the historic family-owned newspaper. Over the years, his works earned him awards and accolades for writing and web-based media. After making the transition to become a full-time entertainment reporter, Munoz co-hosted weekly local entertainment show “Bakotopia Radio” for iHeartRadio and developed the “Bakotunes” podcast, one of Bakersfield’s first locally produced entertainment podcasts still heard today. His career has also taken him to lead media and communication roles in county government in addition to extensive freelance writing.   Matt is a graduate of California State University Bakersfield and currently sits on the CSUB Alumni Association board of directors. Mento Buru is also celebrating 30 years of making music and advocating for music and arts education in our schools. He’s also a devoted husband to his amazing wife Miranda and a dad blessed with three awesome kids Kaitlyn, Mark, and Zachary.

Bob Fuentes

Bob Fuentes has left an indelible mark in the multimedia entertainment industry with his captivating enthusiasm and quick-witted style. Kickstarting his career in radio first as a weekend volunteer producer of a popular live hip-hop music show, Fuentes soon made the jump to the mic where his familiar voice would become a mainstay for local listeners. In addition to excelling in radio production, his video and graphic design talents helped him stand out when it came to jumpstarting or creating strong awareness of new marketing campaigns whenever duty calls. It’s no wonder his reputation as a self-starter with a penchant for new tech earned him the nickname “Multimedia Bob.”  Blessed with an uncanny ability to adapt to any conversation, Bob injects his unique personality and offbeat viewpoints on hot-button social topics from the Real Talk control console to the airwaves.   When he’s not helping to keep the gears running on Real Talk, Fuentes also enjoys commercial photography, music video film and production, and keeping abreast of the latest trends in music and technology.
